Mr. A. Rami Reddy (80), an agriculturist settled in Puttaparthi, relates a few of his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan, in his own words.

'I think it was around 1959-60. I was facing several problems at that time. Being a devotee of Bhagavan, I wanted to seek His Divine blessings. So I left for Puttaparthi. By the time I reached the place, it was around 7:30 p.m. We had an excellent Darshan of Bhagavan as He was in the balcony of the first floor of the Mandir.

Those who are seeing Prasanthi Nilayam now cannot imagine how it was in those days. There was no Darshan as such in those days. Swami used to move around a lot and talk to devotees. Next morning we came to Mandir after bath when Swami called me for interview. He spoke at length on various spiritual matters, but being upset by my own problems, I could not follow what He said.

'I am in the thick of problems at present, Swami', I told Bhagavan. 'You are my only refuse.' 'When grace is with you', Swami asked, 'what can the problems do?' He then materialized vibhuti and gave me, along with a photograph of His. Later on, I came to Prasanthi Nilayam for a second time with my wife, after a few months. Since then I used to visit Prasanthi Nilayam frequently. We used to do seva whenever we were at Prasanthi Nilayam. Many ladies even from aristocratic families used to carry water, and water the plants as we, male devotees, drew it from the well. Swami used to come frequently to various places where devotees were doing seva giving them His Darshan. Devotees used to forget all the physical strain in seva and feel happy as He filled them with Divine bliss. In those days we used to run into Him all the time right from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Once I was traveling in a jatka (horse-drawn carriage) with my family near my native place. That was my own jatka. When we were near Kovur, a lorry came and hit us. I went below the lorry with a tyre going over my leg. The jatka was reduced to shambles. I managed to heave myself up from under the lorry, and found the driver crying in shock. I chided him to be calm. Actually none of them was seriously hurt except for minor bruises. As I was not feeling any pain, I assumed that I, too, was not injured and went about organizing retrieval of the remains of the carriage from under the lorry. The horse was safe, but it was not free as its reins got stuck under the lorry.

Though I was not aware, I was the only one who was badly injured. All of them saw my dhoti becoming red drenched with blood, and cried pointing to it. Only then I looked at my dhoti and realized that I was injured. I was wondering how all my people escaped unhurt when the carriage was completely smashed; it was a miracle. But a bigger miracle awaited me. My leg was not fractured under the impact of the tyre though the leg muscle was cut completely nearly touching the bone. Bhagavan saved me by absorbing the shock and averting a calamity. I escaped fracture or even death within a millimeter! I was shifted to a hospital at Nellore and given treatment. The wound healed well though it left a big scar. This was, I think, around 1968-70.

I was a native of Inamadugu of Kovur Mandal, Nellore district. One day, I had an urge to shift to Puttaparthi and settle down there permanently. I took an acquaintance and began searching for a suitable house. We saw one near the present bus stand. But as I was not carrying any money with me then, I could not give advance. This was, I think, in 1998. That night Bhagavan appeared in my dream and put vibhuti in my hand and pointed in the direction of the building to buy which I had gone that morning. So, I felt happy that Bhagavan had blessed the purchase, and went to give the advance. 'It was booked by someone', the owner told me, 'however, here is another by its side. See if you like it', I was happy and bought it. Thus, Bhagavan has made me a resident of Puttaparthi, the abode of the Lord.

Long before buying the house, once I came to Puttaparthi. 'Please give me a kavacham', I prayed to Bhagavan. He gave me His gown. Whenever I went out of station, I would make namaskar to it, pray to Bhagavan and leave. My journey would be safe and successful. That has been my experience. We still have Bhagavan's gown with us. I am glad my son also does likewise following my example.

Now and then I get dreams in which Bhagavan appears. In 2000, I had a problem in passing urine. The doctors put a tube and a bag, which I had to carry with me all the time. It was a nuisance, indeed. One night, I had a dream. Bhagavan appeared and began to caress me with His hand on my abdomen. 'Go to the hospital tomorrow', He told me, 'a senior doctor is coming'. I went to the Super-specialties Hospital. Indeed, there was a new specialist that day. At first he gave me the routine advice. 'Already they have fixed the tube', he said, 'what more? You have to get on like that'. I asked him to examine if the tube could be done away with. He examined me and said, 'excellent. No need for the tube any more'. So he removed it. I have been quite all right ever since, being able to urinate normally. I know for certain that Bhagavan cured my urine problem completely when He caressed me in the dream. He sent me to the doctor for getting rid of the tube. I do not know how many more times and on how many more occasions He had saved me over the last several decades even without my knowledge. I am able to live happily, only owing to His boundless love and compassion.'
