Mr. Rajendran (52), a vegetable merchant, relates a few of his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own words.

‘Around 2002-03, I had cardiac trouble. I went to Chennai and had an angiogram taken. They decided that I should undergo surgery. I had no money. With the help of some people with political connections, I got some assistance sanctioned, but it was not enough. At that time I heard about the hospital at Whitefields where such surgeries are done free of cost.

I went to Sri Sathya Sai Super Specialties Hospital, Whitefields, Bangalore. They registered my case, examined me and gave me a card. They asked me to come later. Meanwhile, my friend, Mr. Ramdas, a devotee of Bhagavan gave me Baba’s vibhuti. He told me, ‘take a pinch of it with water daily and also apply a little on your chest externally’. I had Darshan of Bhagavan at Brindavan. Baba came along Darshan lines and looked at me and then moved on. I was not a devotee at that time, but I followed what Mr. Ramdas had asked me to do.

After sometime, I went back to the SSSIHMS, Whitefields as directed. They examined me again and asked me to get the angiogram cassette from Chennai. I felt that they had some doubt about my cardiac aliment, but could not deduce what their doubt was. They also did not tell me. I went to Chennai and brought it. I was expecting a date for surgery from the hospital at Whitefields any time. I requested Mr. Ramdas to do pooja for me in his house. He did pooja with sahasranamas etc., offered payasam and also broke a coconut. The coconut turned out to be a spoiled one. I was afraid that it was a bad omen. Would the surgery fail? But Mr. Ramdas said, ‘no! It is not a bad omen. Swami took away all negative elements from you and cured you. You don’t need any surgery now.’ I did not believe. Anyway, I went to Swami’s hospital at Whitefields with the angiogram cassette.

A team of doctors in the hospital examined me for five days and said, ‘you don’t need surgery’. I felt very disappointed. I thought that they were evading surgery, and wanting to send me away giving some tablets. I argued with them. They said, ‘three of the valves in your heart are good. Only one has a small hole. It will heal with medicines’. They also said, ‘all the other three holes in your heart were healed by Swami without surgery. You are lucky’.

They also told me emphatically, ‘what we tell you is the truth. Some doctors may tell you that you still need surgery. If they tell you like that it is only for money. You may get some pain in your right shoulder. Then take the medicine. You are all right. You don’t need surgery’.

I was surprised. I was not a devotee. I had been in the company of non-believers for long. I was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the grace showered on me by Bhagavan though I was not His devotee. I then became a devotee. I am now quite healthy. I have had no problem with my heart till now.’
